In summary: 1 US cup of all-purpose flour weighs about 125 g, granulated sugar about 200 g, and butter about 227 g. Because ingredients have different densities, always convert cups to grams per ingredient for accurate baking.

Why convert by ingredient?

A cup measures volume, but a gram measures weight — and a cup of flour is far lighter than a cup of honey. Generic converters ignore this and give wrong weights. Panvert uses a per-ingredient density table so your bakes come out right every time.

Frequently asked questions

How many grams is 1 cup of flour?

About 125 g of all-purpose flour per US cup (bread flour ~127 g, cake flour ~114 g).

How many grams is 1 cup of sugar?

About 200 g of granulated sugar, 220 g packed brown sugar, or 120 g powdered sugar per US cup.

Are these US or metric cups?

Conversions use the US cup (236.6 ml). A UK/metric cup is 250 ml, so values are slightly higher.
